Franziska Lagg, 24 years old, is a music educator and a social educator working at the contact and counseling center for people with mental illnesses in Potsdam (Kontakt- und Beratungsstelle für Menschen mit psychischen Erkrankungen in Potsdam), and she is also pursuing a career as a music therapist.
Franziska has studied music education and social work. Currently, she works as a social educator at a contact and counseling center for people with mental illnesses in Potsdam while simultaneously pursuing a master’s degree in music therapy at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin. As a board member of the Berlin regional branch of the German Society for Social Psychiatry (Berliner Landesverband der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Soziale Psychiatrie) (DGSP), she is actively involved in advocating for improvements in the psychiatric support system. Her most recent project involves organizing a trialogue discussion and reading circle for social psychiatry in Potsdam, where various critical topics related to psychiatry can be discussed.
Musically, she has experience in various music genres and settings, ranging from wind orchestras to metal bands, and she plays multiple instruments. Through her work at a residence for individuals with chronic mental illnesses during her studies and her current role at the contact and counseling center, she has gained extensive experience in planning and implementing musical programs. For instance, she successfully implemented an inclusive community music project in the residence’s location, with dedicated funding.
