VISION-MISSION-VALUES

Vision

Our vision is a world in which people support one another in difficult times.

RECASAS creates social spaces where people come together to read, write, listen, and exchange.
With peer support at its center, encounters emerge in which creative expression and community open new possibilities — and in which limiting power structures can be gently questioned and re-imagined.

Mission

RECASAS invites people to retell their stories — thereby opening possibilities for resilience, empowerment, and self-determination.

Through art, writing, music, theatre — and also shared cooking — pathways emerge when words alone are not enough.
The experience itself remains, yet its meaning can expand. In this way, creative community can relieve pressure, provide orientation, and awaken hope — contributing to more dignified and compassionate forms of living together.

Values
Peer Support: People learn from one another and discover new perspectives through shared experience.

Creativity: Multiple forms of expression open pathways when words alone cannot carry an experience further.

Self-Determination: Each person sets their own pace and chooses their own way of engaging.

Community: Connection instead of isolation emerges through doing things together: reading, writing, singing, or cooking.

Diversity: All voices are welcome, regardless of origin, religion, language, or life story.

Future Orientation: Community-based approaches can strengthen both individual and societal stability over the long term.

Critical Awareness: We reflect on the effects of labels and power structures and seek alternatives that place dignity, solidarity, and shared humanity at the center.

BOUNDARIES

RECASAS is not a therapy or counseling service.
It does not replace medical or psychotherapeutic treatment but can accompany it supportively.

RELATION TO PEER PRACTICE

RECASAS is inspired by international peer approaches, particularly Intentional Peer Support (IPS).

At its core is relationship rather than interpretation: people meet not as helpers and treated persons, but as individuals with experiences who explore meaning together.
The aim is not to analyze problems from the outside or prescribe how they should be solved, but to develop new perspectives together from which solutions can emerge.

ORIGIN OF THE NAME

RECASAS began as an acronym in the early stages of development. As the project evolved, it became a standalone name.
