The Amber Tree

With our logo, we make visible what RECASAS stands for.

The amber tree is among the first trees to change color in autumn. While others are still green, it begins to glow — red, orange, violet. Not dramatic, but clearly visible.

At RECASAS, spaces emerge in which people can retell their own stories — consciously outside medical categories and without diagnoses. The aim is not to evaluate experiences, but to give them more possibilities.

The tree carries its name because of the resin it forms. Resin does not arise out of ornament, but protection. It appears where the tree is under pressure. It seals, stabilizes, and preserves moisture.

What later appears beautiful and precious begins as a necessary act of care.

Trees express a particular relationship to the world: rooted in the ground they draw strength from, yet open upward — to light, air, and change. They do not grow in isolation but in relation to their surroundings and conditions.

RECASAS understands itself in a similar way: locally grounded and open to development.

The star-shaped leaves reflect this attitude. Each leaf has its own form — yet all belong to the same tree. An image of community: individuality without uniformity, belonging without reduction.

In autumn the amber tree changes earlier than many others. Even after the leaves have fallen, their colors often remain visible for a while.

Change does not happen abruptly. Transitions remain perceptible.

The amber tree reminds us that development takes time. That protection and growth belong together. And that visibility can emerge even during transition.

This is why the amber tree accompanies us as a symbol.

RECASAS

RECASAS is a place for people who are struggling with something.

Some are dealing with difficult experiences, others feel stuck, exhausted, or are looking for a different way of relating to what accompanies them.
RECASAS is for people who do not want to stay alone with this, but wish to engage with it in community, through language, reading, and writing.

Our offerings are group-based — in German and English, in person and online.
RECASAS is not a therapeutic service. We do not offer one-to-one conversations, counseling, or treatment.

Participation is voluntary.
You decide how much you share — and when.

Sometimes, something new can emerge:
the possibility of telling the stories of our lives differently.

You are welcome — exactly as you are.
