Johnson will introduce RECASAS as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/madindeutschland.org\/\">Mad in Deutschland<\/a>\u2019s <strong>MiDEinander<\/strong> online event series.<\/p>\n<p>In her talk, <strong>\u201cRethinking Community\u2014Beyond Diagnoses,\u201d<\/strong> she will reflect on how her experiences of psychiatric coercion in New York City changed her understanding of support, human rights and self-determination. Many years later, she began to understand those experiences beyond psychiatric diagnoses and to reclaim her own story.<\/p>\n<p>This process gave rise to a question that became central to the development of RECASAS: What might communities look like if they were not organised around diagnoses?<\/p>\n<p>Bringing personal experience into conversation with perspectives from Mad Studies and sociology, the talk will present RECASAS as a community in which people encounter one another through shared interests, learning and cultural creation\u2014not primarily as patients or people defined by diagnoses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Date:<\/strong> Wednesday, 30 September 2026, 7:00\u20138:00 p.m. CEST<br \/>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Online<br \/>\n<strong>Event series:<\/strong> MiDEinander, hosted by Mad in Deutschland<br \/>\n<strong>Language:<\/strong> German<br \/>\n<strong>Participation:<\/strong> Free<\/p>\n<p>Registration will open at the beginning of September on the <a href=\"https:\/\/madindeutschland.org\/\">Mad in Deutschland<\/a> website.
